The Two Ways Enterprise HR Tech Fails (And Neither Is the Vendor’s Fault)

Two patterns of HR tech adoption failure

Most conversations about failed HR tech implementations point at the platform. Wrong integration. Poor UX. Vendor didn’t deliver. And sometimes that’s true.

But in most cases I’ve seen, working closely with enterprise HR teams across IT, manufacturing, and BFSI, the platform isn’t the problem. The org is.

Specifically, it fails in one of two very predictable ways. The first is the Selective Adopter, where core modules run fine but half the system sits unused due to internal friction. The second is the Unfocused Transformer, where leadership is bought in but there’s no defined roadmap, and nothing ever reaches full adoption before the next priority takes over.

Both patterns are fixable. But they need very different interventions.
